For more than 30 years, Angelique Munro has contributed her time, talent, and visibility to Chicago’s LGBTQ+ communities and to organizations serving people in need. An entertainer since 1995, she has supported numerous fundraisers through donated performances, volunteer work, and, often, her tips.
Munro participated in six annual AIDS Walk and Run events and spent 16 years as a host, event coordinator, and entertainer for the annual Turkey Trot fundraiser benefiting GroceryLand Food Pantry, alongside the late Lori Cannon. She performed for five consecutive years in *Who Is That Girl?*, a fundraiser benefiting Howard Brown Health, and served for more than five years as a celebrity judge for Windy City Gay Idol with the *Windy City Times*. She performed at the Chicago House Spring Brunch for one year and volunteered at the event for six years. Her other fundraising efforts have supported HIV and AIDS organizations and people in need.
Since 2009, Munro has spoken at colleges and universities about her lived experience as a transgender woman. Through these presentations, she has helped future doctors, nurses, and other professionals better understand transgender people and the importance of respectful, competent care. Her media appearances have included *The Tyra Banks Show*, *The Ricki Lake Show*, *Empire*, and the pilot *Transformative The Talk Show*, where she moderated an all-transgender panel.
Munro has also advocated for fairness and dignity in the workplace, drawing on discrimination she experienced in her own career. She built a professional career in human resources and payroll and has worked for organizations including Chicago House and Howard Brown Health. She currently works as a Payroll Manager for Encyclopaedia Britannica.
Across her professional, artistic, and volunteer work, Munro has used her platform to support LGBTQ+ performers, raise funds for community organizations, educate future professionals, and maintain a visible presence as a transgender woman. Her longstanding commitments include fundraising, event production, performance, public education, and direct service to Chicago-area communities.
