Dr. Traci P. Beck has had a significant impact on Chicago’s LGBTQ+ community through her pioneering work in urology and gender-affirming care. A board-certified urologist, Beck earned her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, completed her urology residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals, and pursued advanced fellowship training in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. She has used her skills to expand access to gender-affirming, high-quality care for transgender women, transgender men, and nonbinary individuals. Her leadership in integrating LGBTQ+-inclusive practices into Illinois Masonic and Stroger hospitals and clinics has helped shift Chicago’s healthcare landscape, bringing about structural changes that have improved care for generations.
Beck has long been a trusted resource for individuals seeking pelvic and urologic reconstruction and care in environments free of stigma. Patients referred by community clinics and advocacy organizations consistently cite her trauma-informed, respectful approach as life-changing. Her dual board certifications in Urology and Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery reflect her exceptional training and commitment to clinical excellence.
Beck partners with local organizations to expand options for those seeking bottom surgery and trains the next generation of affirming providers as a faculty member at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She is a member of the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU) and the National Medical Association (NMA), and she extends her advocacy to housing and justice issues through work with the Chicago Coalition to End Homelessness and leadership in the vestry at St. Paul & the Redeemer Episcopal Church. For individuals historically excluded from quality care, Dr. Traci Beck represents safety, dignity, and medical excellence to our community.
