JOHN “MISS FOOZIE” FOOS

Noted fundraiser and entertainer John Foos, better known as Miss Foozie or Miss Lucy Foozie, is a character artist with a passion for making people feel welcome and have fun. Miss Foozie has been a fixture in Chicago’s LGBT community since 1997, with her pineappleshaped wig and colorful dress and parasol. While Miss Foozie has been a performer and emcee at hundreds of area performances and festivals, her support of the nonprofit community sets her apart. Miss Foozie has emceed the Northalsted Halloween Parade, the Proud Pet Parade, and other events around the city, helping to raise money for such charities as the American Red Cross, the Lupus Foundation, the Dos Espiritus Latinos HIV/AIDS program, and the Chicago Red Dress Party. Miss Foozie, an animal lover, has also raised money for PAWS Chicago and the Tree House Society.

Named Best Drag Performer in Chicago by Newcity in 2007, Miss Foozie has also represented the city well at other Midwest events and venues and across the U.S., including at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. She has starred in independent films, hosted live shows including The Miss Foozie Talk Show and Miss Foozie and Her Floozies, and been featured in such publications as TimeOut Chicago, Boi Magazine, and Gay Chicago Magazine.
