Rick Karlin is perhaps best known as journalist in the LGBT press. He has worked for or written for GayLife, Gay Chicago Magazine, Outlines/Nightlines, Chicago Free Press, and appeared on LesBiGay Radio and GoChicagoPride.com. He is also a playwright, novelist and memoirist. In his stage persona, Charity Case, he was renowned as a performer and emcee for charity events and shows. He was also a teacher and is the proud father of his adult son, Adam. He lives in Fort Lauderdale with his husband, Gregg Shapiro, and their dog Coco. He writes a weekly column for South Florida Gay News.
